ANN & BILL'S
PAGE
W2ONV passed away on Sunday,
August 12, 2007. He had been fighting a battle with scleroderma for the past year.
Unfortunately, his form of the disease was somewhat aggressive and atypical. His disease
morphed into several other immune related diseases in the last months of his life causing
the disease to rapidly progress. He will be greatly missed.
Bill's interest in radio spanned
a lifetime. When one reads the definition and intent of ham radio, W2ONV was a
stellar example. He took pride in his international community of friends and looked at
them as his extended family.
The "Bill Salerno
(W2ONV) Memorial Fund of the ARRL" has been established to foster the development of
youth in amateur radio. Donations are being accepted directly to the ARRL.
Direct mail to (the ARRL notifies
the family of all contributions):

As of 2008 the "Bill
Salerno - W2ONV - Memorial Scholarship" will be made available yearly thru the
ARRL Foundation. Details for the college scholarship are available on the ARRL
Foundation web site.

73's from Studio B, a
farewell salute to W2ONV by John / K3UR
"W2ONV"
W2ONV,
has become a silent key,
he was such a special man, always lending a helping hand,
his audio ranked at the top of the list,
yes Bill Salerno will sure be missed,
the New York Yankees was his team,
and educated aluminum was his beam,
the whole world listened to ONV,
he spread good will continually,
my heart is heavy as I write this poem,
God bless you Bill in your new home,
the lights are dim in Studio B,
and now we bow on bended knee,
one last kiss to his U-87,
and now Bill's finally home in heaven.
